The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia received the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Latvia
On June 30, 2026, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan received the delegation headed by Prosecutor General of the Republic of Latvia Armīns Meisters, who arrived in Armenia on an official working visit.
The delegation arrived in Armenia to participate in the high-level international conference titled “Following the Illicit Money: Prosecution, Recovery, Management and Enhancing Victim-Centred Responses in Criminal Justice”, held within the framework of the Armenian Platform for European Prosecutors’ Dialogue.
Anna Vardapetyan welcomed the partners at the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, expressed gratitude to her Latvian counterpart for accepting the invitation to visit Armenia and participate in the conference, and congratulated Armīns Meisters on assuming the office of Prosecutor General, expressing confidence that his professional experience and knowledge will make an important contribution to the development of the Estonian prosecution service and its ability to respond effectively to modern challenges.
The Prosecutor General of Armenia emphasized the importance of the participation of the Latvian delegation in the discussions within the Armenian Platform of the European Prosecutors’ Dialogue, noting that, based on the successful experience of high-level international conferences held in Armenia in 2023–2025 in cooperation with European partners, it was decided to institutionalize and make this professional dialogue format continuous.
During the meeting, reference was made to international legal cooperation in criminal proceedings between Armenia and Latvia. It was noted that the existing international legal instruments between the two countries allow for effective execution of mutual legal assistance requests, as also evidenced by statistical data from recent years.
The parties also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in combating transnational crime, with particular attention to the tools of Eurojust.
The Prosecutors General of Armenia and Latvia reaffirmed their readiness to further deepen international cooperation, professional exchange, and bilateral partnership, emphasizing that such formats are essential for increasing the effectiveness of prosecutorial systems and jointly addressing modern challenges.
