On 10 September 2026, within the framework of her visit to Luxembourg, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan met with Prosecutor General of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg John Petry.

John Petry welcomed Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan’s visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, highly appreciated the level of cooperation established between the prosecutor’s offices of Armenia and Luxembourg, and noted that effective combating of international and cross-border crime requires close and continuous cooperation between prosecution services.

The Prosecutor General of Luxembourg expressed his readiness to contribute to expanding practical bilateral ties and intensifying joint work in areas of mutual interest.

Anna Vardapetyan congratulated John Petry on assuming the position of Prosecutor General of Luxembourg in 2025, highly appreciated the cooperation established with the Prosecutor General’s Office of Luxembourg, and discussed with her counterpart a number of issues relating to international mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.

The parties emphasised that international legal cooperation between Armenia and Luxembourg in criminal matters is carried out within the framework of a number of international treaties, including in the areas of mutual assistance in criminal matters, extradition, cybercrime, combating corruption and transnational organised crime.

Reference was also made to the cooperation of the Republic of Armenia with Eurojust. It was noted that the agreements signed in 2024 have created new opportunities for making practical cooperation in combating cross-border crime more effective. In this context, the importance of coordinated interaction, as well as the holding of coordination meetings within the framework of criminal proceedings, was emphasised.

During the meeting, the areas of the involvement of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia in international professional networks and organisations were also presented. In particular, Armenia’s representation on the Executive Committee of the International Association of Prosecutors, as well as the Prosecutor’s Office’s active participation in a number of professional bodies of the Council of Europe, were highlighted.

Reference was also made to the professional training programmes conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and efforts to promote international and regional professional dialogue.

In this context, the Armenian Platform for European Prosecutors’ Dialogue (APEPD), initiated by Armenia, was presented. The platform brings together representatives of prosecution services of Council of Europe member states, experts from international and regional organisations, and high-ranking officials.

It was noted that the 2026 Platform focuses on discussions concerning the investigation and prosecution of complex financial crimes, including criminal schemes involving the use of cryptocurrencies and artificial intelligence, the effective management of confiscated property of illicit origin, as well as the application of victim-centred approaches in the field of criminal justice.

Anna Vardapetyan and John Petry emphasised the importance of the continued development of the practical ties established between the prosecution services of the two countries and expressed their readiness to further deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed the importance of strengthening international cooperation and exchanging experience in the field of criminal justice.
