4 judgments for high treason, with prison sentences of up to 16 years: Prosecutor’s Office summarised data for 2025–2026

In 2025–2026, four judgments were handed down in cases involving the commission of high treason under part 1 of Article 418 of the Criminal Code.

In particular:

  1. On 23 December 2025, by a judgment of the Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction of Gegharkunik region, an individual was found guilty under part 1 of Article 418 of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment, as well as deprivation of military rank as an additional punishment.
  2. On 3 March 2026, by a judgment of the Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction of Gegharkunik region, an individual was found guilty under part 1 of Article 418 of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment.
  3. On 10 March 2026, by a judgment of the Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction of Syunik region, an individual was found guilty under part 1 of Article 418 of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment.  
  4. On 26 June 2026, by a judgment of the Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan, an individual was found guilty under part 1 of Article 418 of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 16 years’ imprisonment, as well as confiscation of property worth more than USD 20,000.

Thus, during the aforementioned period, the courts sentenced the four individuals found guilty of high treason to 15–16 years’ imprisonment. In one case, deprivation of military rank was imposed, while in another, property confiscation was ordered.
