The public trial in criminal case No. YeD1/3890/01/25 concerning the charge against A.S. of committing the criminal offence provided for by part 2 of Article 489 of the Criminal Code has been completed before the Criminal Court of First instance of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan.

The totality of evidence examined during the trial and obtained in accordance with due legal procedure established that A.S., acting as defense counsel for the accused in criminal proceedings investigated by the Investigative Division of Masis of the Investigative Department of Ararat region of the Investigative Committee, showed disrespect towards the court in connection with motions submitted by the preliminary investigation body to the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Ararat and Vayots Dzor regions by insulting the judge in connection with the exercise of the judge’s official powers.

Following the main hearings, the court, having found A.S. guilty of committing the criminal offence provided for by part 2 of Article 489 of the Criminal Code, rendered a guilty verdict against him.

Notice:  A person charged with any crime shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code—by the judgment came into legal force.
