The Prosecutor’s Office of Ararat region identified a number of violations in the acquisition of land plots belonging to the former Head of Ararat region: claim for state interests protection filed with the court
November 03, 2026
Within the scope of its powers to protect state (community) interests, and in parallel with criminal proceedings under investigation by the Investigative Committee, a prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Ararat region examined the lawfulness of the alienation of land plots with a total area of 5.38 ha belonging to A.S., who had previously held the position of the Head of Ararat region.
The examination established that, at different times, the heads of various communities in Ararat region, having used their official powers contrary to the interests of the service, alienated community-owned land plots with a total area of 5.38 ha to A.S., the former Head of Ararat region, through sham auctions and without the consent of the respective Community Councils of Elders.
On the basis of the violations identified as a result of the examination, the prosecutor submitted a report of a crime to the Anti-Corruption Committee, and criminal proceedings were initiated.
At the same time, on 24 September 2026, the Prosecutor’s Office filed a claim with the Anti-Corruption Court against Artashat Community and A.S., the former Head of Ararat region, demanding to have the auctions of the above-mentioned land plots declared invalid and the consequences of invalidity applied.
By its decision of 27 October 2026, the Court admitted the claim for examination and granted interim relief by prohibiting the alienation or mortgaging of the above-mentioned land plots by any means.
