The Prosecutor General imposed disciplinary penalties of “reprimand” and “demotion by one rank” on three prosecutors
October 08, 2026
On 15 June, 3 September and 28 September 2026, disciplinary proceedings were initiated against persons holding autonomous positions at the Prosecutor’s Office of Ajapnyak and Davtashen Administrative Districts of Yerevan, the Kapan Garrison Military Prosecutor’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office of Shirak region, respectively.
At its meeting held on 6 October 2026, the Ethics Commission Adjacent to the Prosecutor General established the existence of disciplinary violations in the actions of three prosecutors.
Within the framework of the disciplinary proceedings, it was established that two of the prosecutors had, without a valid reason, been absent respectively from their workplace and from a court hearing, while the third prosecutor, i.a., having received and examined the files of the criminal proceedings together with the indictment, failed to establish that the indictment did not comply with the requirements prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code and approved it. As a result, an incorrect type of punishment was imposed on the person, and the prosecutor failed to take any measures to identify and rectify the matter (with a view to correcting the judicial error, on 7 October 2026, the Deputy Prosecutor General filed an appeal for exceptional review).
By decisions of the Prosecutor General dated 7 October 2026, a disciplinary sanction in the form of a “reprimand” was imposed on the person holding an autonomous position at the Prosecutor’s Office of Ajapnyak and Davtashen Administrative Districts of Yerevan; a disciplinary penalty in the form of “demotion by one rank” was imposed on the person holding an autonomous position at the Kapan Garrison Military Prosecutor’s Office; and a disciplinary penalty in the form of a “reprimand” was imposed on the person holding an autonomous position at the Prosecutor’s Office of Shirak region.
