Following the results, the team of the French University in Armenia (Team 3) was declared the winner of the competition.
It should be recalled that the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, jointly with Yerevan State University and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, launched the first “State Interests Protection of Armenia” student moot court competition, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Artavazd Gevorgyan, former Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia.
A total of 14 teams, comprising 55 students from various universities operating in Armenia, took part in the first “State Interests Protection of Armenia” student moot court Competition.
More than 40 legal professionals — judges, prosecutors, advocates and legal scholars — participated in the competition as judges.
As part of the competition, a masterclass was organized for participants at Yerevan State University on 24 October 2026.
The two-day preliminary oral round was held at Yerevan State University on 30–31 October 2026. During this round, participants argued from the positions of the claimant and the respondent, presenting their legal arguments on the case problem, defending their positions and answering questions from the judges.
Based on the results of the preliminary round, four teams advanced to the semi-finals: one team each from Yerevan State University and the Public Administration Academy, and two teams from the French University in Armenia.
The results of the semi-final and final rounds of the competition were announced at the Prosecutor General’s Office building on 1 November 2026.
Before the start of the moot court competition, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan expressed her gratitude to all the universities involved for their active and high-quality participation. She emphasized that the moot court competition was dedicated to the memory of a distinguished individual, former Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Artavazd Gevorgyan, who had paid great attention to the field of State interests protection and whose 100th birth anniversary is being commemorated this year.
“Through the tremendous efforts of our team, today we are reviving the function of state interests protection. Our aim is to make you interested in this field, to develop a passion for it, just as we have, and to be able to take our place when you graduate from university and wish to work at the Prosecutor’s Office. Today, the winning team will be the first in the Republic of Armenia to receive a commemorative medal dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Artavazd Gevorgyan’s birth. For our part, throughout this process, we have done our utmost to ensure maximum transparency, clarity and integrity,” Anna Vardapetyan noted.
Rector of Yerevan State University Hovhannes Hovhannisyan also welcomed the participants of the moot court competition and noted that the YSU Law Laboratory operating at the Prosecutor General’s Office had also been established with the aim of organizing events of this kind. “In today’s world, knowledge is the most valuable asset; it is through knowledge that you will shape your future,” Hovhannes Hovhannisyan emphasized, wishing success to the teams.
Deputy Director of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law Arman Gasparyan expressed gratitude to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia for the initiative and urged the participants not to be afraid of mistakes or symbolic “defeat”, but to learn from their mistakes so that, in future, they would be able to demonstrate professional competence and skills in actual court proceedings.
According to the competition results, the team from the French University in Armenia (Team 3) took first place with 278 points, surpassing the team from Yerevan State University (Team 7), which took second place, by one point.
