Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Edgar Arsenyan participates in the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice as part of the delegation of the Republic of Armenia.

Today, Edgar Arsenyan delivered a speech within the framework of the Congress, presenting the experience and approaches of the Republic of Armenia in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice, particularly touching upon the importance of international cooperation and the directions of its further development.

The Deputy Prosecutor General touched upon the objectives and particularities of the institution of confiscation of property of illicit origin in Armenia, the importance of mutual legal assistance and international cooperation in the context of identifying assets located in foreign countries and obtaining information about them. They also presented the challenges that exist in practice, the experience of exchanging requests between Armenia and foreign partners, as well as the work carried out to improve the effectiveness of cooperation.

On the same day, Edgar Arsenyan met with the Prosecutor General of the United Arab Emirates, Hamad Saif Al Shamsi.

During the meeting, the specifics of the institution of confiscation of property of illegal origin in the Republic of Armenia were presented. They also discussed the progress of requests submitted by the Republic of Armenia to the competent authorities of the UAE in individual cases within the framework of mutual legal assistance, issues of obtaining the necessary information about them, tracking assets, timely information exchange and improving the efficiency of processing international requests.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on strengthening business cooperation and increasing the effectiveness of further cooperation.

During the visit, the delegation of the Republic of Armenia also held bilateral meetings with high-ranking representatives of the justice sector of the partner countries, including with the delegations headed by the Ministers of Justice of the UAE and the State of Qatar. Issues of mutual interest and perspectives for the development of cooperation were discussed.
