Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Receives Prosecutor General of Latvia
On 30 June 2026, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan received the delegation headed by Prosecutor General of the Republic of Latvia Armīns Meisters, who arrived in Armenia on a working visit.
The Latvian delegation is visiting Armenia to participate in the high-level international conference entitled “Following the Illicit Money: Prosecution, Recovery, Management and Enhancing Victim-Centred Responses in criminal justice”, organized within the framework of the Armenian Platform for European Prosecutors' Dialogue (APEPD)..
Welcoming the delegation to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan thanked her Latvian counterpart for accepting the invitation to visit Armenia and participate in the conference. She also congratulated Armīns Meisters on assuming the office of Prosecutor General, expressing confidence that his professional expertise and experience will make an important contribution to the development of the Latvian Prosecution Service and to effectively addressing contemporary challenges.
The Prosecutor General of Armenia emphasized the importance of the Latvian delegation's participation in the discussions held within the framework of the Armenian Platform for European Prosecutors' Dialogue, noting that, based on the successful experience of the high-level international conferences organized in Armenia in cooperation with European partners during 2023–2025, it had been decided to institutionalize this format of professional dialogue and ensure its continuity.
During the meeting, the parties discussed international legal cooperation between Armenia and Latvia in criminal matters. It was noted that the international legal instruments in force between the two countries provide an effective framework for the execution of mutual legal assistance requests, as evidenced by the cooperation statistics of recent years.
The parties also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in combating transnational crime, with particular emphasis on the tools and mechanisms offered by Eurojust.
The Prosecutors General of Armenia and Latvia reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening international cooperation, exchanging professional experience, and further deepening bilateral partnership, emphasizing that such formats play an important role in enhancing the effectiveness of prosecution services and jointly addressing contemporary challenges.
