Cooperation between the Prosecutors' Offices of Armenia and Lithuania in Mutual Legal Assistance and Extradition Continues to Deliver Tangible Results: Anna Vardapetyan Receives Prosecutor General of Lithuania

On 30 June 2026, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan received the delegation headed by Prosecutor General of the Republic of Lithuania Nida Grunskienė, who arrived in Armenia on a working visit.

The Lithuanian delegation is visiting Armenia to participate in the high-level international conference entitled Following the Illicit Money: Prosecution, Recovery, Management and Enhancing Victim-Centred Responses in criminal justice”, organized within the framework of the Armenian Platform for European Prosecutors' Dialogue (APEPD).

Welcoming the delegation to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan thanked the Lithuanian partners for their active participation over the years in the international conferences initiated by the Prosecutor's Office of Armenia. She emphasized that their professional contribution significantly enhanced the quality of the substantive discussions held during the high-level conferences organized in Armenia in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

The Prosecutor General of Armenia also congratulated Nida Grunskienė on her reappointment as Prosecutor General of the Republic of Lithuania, expressing confidence that her professional expertise and leadership will continue to contribute to strengthening the rule of law and ensuring the effective functioning of the Lithuanian prosecution service.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed the long-standing and productive cooperation established between the prosecution services of Armenia and Lithuania. They emphasized that the two countries enjoy a solid treaty-based framework for international legal cooperation in criminal matters, while the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2023 has provided additional momentum for expanding cooperation in criminal justice, the protection of human rights and the rule of law.

Addressing the issue of the continuous professional development of prosecutors, Anna Vardapetyan presented the outcomes of the high-level international conferences held in Yerevan in 2023–2025 in cooperation with European partners. She noted that, following the positive feedback from partner countries, these conferences have now been institutionalized and will henceforth be held under the framework of the Armenian Platform for European Prosecutors' Dialogue (APEPD).

The Prosecutors General of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Lithuania reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation in strengthening prosecutors' professional capacities, combating transnational crime, corruption and money laundering, and facilitating the recovery of assets of illicit origin.
