As a result of prosecutorial intervention, two land plots with a total area of 7.5 ha have been returned to the possession of Ashotsk Community in Shirak region

Within the scope of its powers to bring claims in protection of State (community) interests, the Prosecutor’s Office of Shirak region established through an examination that A.A., who served as the Head of Ashotsk village from 2006 to 2016 and as the head of the enlarged Ashotsk community from 2016 to 2018, had, in violation of the law, granted to private individuals, under lease rights, a 5.43 ha hayfield and a 2.08 ha arable land plot, both agricultural land, located in Ashotsk village, Ashotsk community, Shirak region.

In particular, in 2009, by a decision of the Head of Ashotsk Community A.A., the aforementioned land plots were granted to an individual declared the “winner” of an auction for a 25-year lease. However, examination of the cadastral file established that the auction conducted for the allocation of the land plots had been held in violation of the requirements prescribed by law.

Based on the above, the Prosecutor’s Office of Shirak region sent a motion to the incumbent Head of Ashotsk Community requesting that measures be taken to terminate the unlawful possession of the land plots by the private individuals.

As a result of the motion, according to a certificate issued by the Cadastre Committee on 20 August 2026, the lease rights of the private individuals over the aforementioned land plots were terminated. The land plots, with a total area of 7.51 hectares and a cadastral value of AMD 4 million 768 thousand, have been returned to the possession of Ashotsk Community.
