Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan today received Erik Fågelsbo, representative of the European Union Criminal Justice Agency (Eurojust), at the Prosecutor's Office residence in Dilijan.

The Eurojust representative arrived in Armenia to participate in the two-day international high-level conference entitled “Independence and Impartiality of Prosecutors in the Context of Prosecution of Crimes Committed by Public Officials: Corruption and Money Laundering”, launched on July 1, 2025, in Dilijan, on the occasion of the 107th anniversary of the establishment of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia and the Day of Employee of the Prosecutor's Office.

It should be recalled that as a result of negotiations lasting about two years between Armenia and the European Union, on April 5, 2024, the "Agreement on Cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and Eurojust" was signed, and on September 23 of the same year, a working arrangement on the implementation of the agreement was signed. After completing the internal procedures, Armenia will send the Liason Prosecutor to Eurojust.

The parties also discussed a number of other issues of mutual interest during the meeting.

It should be recalled that the Conference is organized within the framework of the projects “Support to the Justice Reform in Armenia” and “Enhancing National Capacities for Effective Prevention and Fight Against Economic Crime in Armenia”, co-financed by of the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme “Partnership for Good Governance”, implemented by the Council of Europe.
