Trilateral memorandum of cooperation between Yerevan State University, Prosecutor’s Office and YSU Faculty of Law

Today a Trilateral Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Rector of the Yerevan State University and Harutyun Khachikyan, Dean of the Faculty of Law.

 

The aim of the Memorandum is to strengthen the effective, constructive and continuous cooperation for training the best legal professionals, to exchange experience as well as to ensure and develop the connection between the theory and practice. 

 

Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Rector of the Yerevan State University, attaching importance to the continuous cooperation with the Prosecutor General’s Office highlighted that the Memorandum will open up new perspectives by deepening and strengthening the cooperation between the two institutions.  

 

“Due to this trilateral Memorandum our students will have a chance to get acquainted with the activity and functions of the Prosecutor General’s Office as well as to acquire practical skills. We emphasize not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical application thereof. In the scope of the cooperation our best graduates will have a chance to join the team of the Prosecutor General’s Office, contributing to the continuous development and effective work of this important institution”, mentioned Hovhannes Hovhannisyan.

 

Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General attached importance to this Memorandum, as an important step towards the development of cooperation with the YSU. In this context Anna Vardapetyan highlighted the importance of the trilateral announcement signed between the “Yerevan State University” foundation, Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and “Armenian Bar Association” organization, mentioning that the work aimed at establishing a legal laboratory constituting structural subdivision of YSU in the administrative building of the Prosecutor General's Office is in progress. The reconstruction works of the subdivision have already started and the aim is to have a presentable, technically equipped laboratory where students, candidates for prosecutors and employees of the Prosecutor’s Office will develop and update their professional knowledge and practical skills in the field of cybercrime and protection of human rights in international courts”, mentioned Prosecutor General of the Republic and thanked YSU and YSU Faculty of Law for the initiative.

 

Harutyun Khachikyan, Dean of the Faculty of Law attaching importance to the cooperation and the project implemented in the scope of that cooperation, mentioned, “The cooperation between YSU, Faculty of Law and Prosecutor General’s Office has consistently been at a high level. It has different manifestations, but now we are stepping into a new and important stage of cooperation, which will make the joint work more effective and will contribute to achieving the expected results”.

 

In the scope of the Memorandum the parties shall cooperate in the following directions:

 

  • Organization of professional practice that will contribute to the development of students' skills to apply theoretical knowledge in practice;
  • Organization of joint seminars with the participation of invited lecturers, theoreticians and practicing lawyers;
  • Provision of scientifically substantiated opinions regarding legal issues by the suggestion of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia; 
  • Organization of joint conferences, discussions (round table), mock trials, and other events aimed at the exchange of professional experience.
  • Implementation of joint scientific-research works and programs, publication of monographs, scientific articles, practical guidelines (“Legality” Scientific-Practical Journal of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, “State and Law” Journal of the Yerevan State University, “Banber” Bulletin of Yerevan University, Jurisprudence, etc).
