Imprisonment for the term of 5 years for causing grave harm to the health of a minor by use of a knife

By the decision of the First Instance Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction of the City of Yerevan, dated February 21, 2025, Norayr Shahverdyan was found guilty under points 2 and 6 of article 166 of the Criminal Code (causing grave harm to the health of the minor by use of an object or device made or fitted in advance to cause bodily injury) and was sentenced to imprisonment for the term of 5 years.

 

Let us remind that on August 1, 2023, at 23:50 P.M. Arabkir Police Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received an alert from the medical center that a minor requested for medical help with a diagnosis “a bleeding cut and puncture wound on the left side of abdomen”.

 

A criminal proceedings was initiated on August 2, 2023 and one day after that, on August 3, 2023 the prosecutor initiated a public criminal prosecution against Norayr Shahverdyan under points 2 and 6 of part 2 of article 166 of the Criminal Code and submitted the indictment signed on October 30, 2024, as well as the materials of the case to the First Instance Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction of the City of Yerevan. 

 

Notice:  A person charged with any crime shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code—by the judgment came into legal force.
