On February 21, 2025, the work of the Prosecutor’s Office of Syunik region during 2024 was summarized under the leadership of Aram Aramyan, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia.
Masis Poghosyan, Prosecutor of Syunik region, Robert Ghukasyan, Head of Syunik region, Heads of regional offices of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Security Service and Investigation Committee, prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office of the region also participated in the meeting.
Masis Poghosyan presented the report on the work of the Prosecutor’s Office of Syunik region during 2024, referring to the criminal proceedings initiated in the region as well as criminal proceedings submitted to the court with signed indictments.
In this context the Prosecutor of Syunik region informed that 2472 criminal proceedings were initiated in the region during 2024 (2160 criminal proceedings during 2023), 371 criminal proceedings regarding 398 individuals were submitted to the court with signed indictments of the prosecutors of the region (208 criminal proceedings regarding 242 individuals during 2023).
362 criminal cases regarding 379 individuals were completed in the courts during 2024 (187 criminal cases regarding 220 individuals during 2023), criminal judgments of conviction were rendered against 361 individuals under 326 criminal cases (against 183 individuals under 167 criminal cases during 2023).
According to the Prosecutor of the region, damage in the amount of AMD 39 million 331 thousand was caused to the state and community under the criminal proceedings completed during 2024, wherefrom AMD 25 million 662 thousand was recovered (AMD 793 thousand during 2023).
Referring to the work implemented by the Prosecutor’s Office in the field of protection of the state and community interests during 2024, Masis Poghosyan highlighted that AMD 33 million 695 thousand was recovered as a result (AMD 14 million 570 thousand during 2023) 8 statements of claim were submitted to the court.
“In general AMD 60 million equivalent to USD 150 thousand was recovered as a result of the work implemented by the Prosecutor’s Office in the field of the protection of state (community) interests”, - highlighted the Prosecutor of Syunik region, and added that arable land with the surface of 18, 9237 ha was returned to the borderline Tegh settlement as a result of prosecutorial intervention.
Aram Aramyan, Deputy Prosecutor General gave an assignment to the Prosecutor of the region to continue the work implemented in the field of protection of the state (community) interests.
