On February 21, 2025, the activities of the Prosecutor's Office of Tavush Region for 2024 were summarized under the leadership of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan.
Yeghiazar Avagyan, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Muradyan, Prosecutor of Tavush Region, Hayk Ghalumyan, Governor of Tavush Region, Mher Aprikyan, Secretary General of the Prosecutor's Office, heads of regional offices of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Security Service and Investigative Committee, prosecutors of the prosecutor's office and others participated in the meeting.
Armen Muradyan presented the report on the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of Tavush Region for 2024 to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, referring to the statistics of criminal proceedings initiated in the region, criminal proceedings submitted to the court with indictment, cases completed in court, etc. In this context, the Prosecutor of Tavush Region informed that 2048 criminal proceedings were initiated in the region during 2024, (2046 criminal proceedings in 2023), 348 criminal proceedings were submitted to the court with indictment by prosecutors regarding 363 persons (in 2023, 296 criminal proceedings regarding 320 persons), and conviction was rendered in 362 criminal cases regarding 371 persons (in 2023, 208 criminal cases regarding 224 persons).
According to Armen Muradyan, the damage caused to the state in the result of crimes in criminal proceedings investigated and completed in the region during 2024 amounted to AMD 37 million 270 thousand, out of which AMD 32 million 171 thousand was recovered, which is 86.3% of the damage caused (AMD 24 million 145 thousand was recovered in cases of illegal logging).
The Prosecutor of the region mentioned that a criminal case was initiated, and in the result of prosecutorial intervention, 5 real estates with a total area of 3,1845 hectares were returned to Ijevan community.
Armen Muradyan noted that the value of 28 claims aimed at the protection of state and community interests examined in court proceedings amounts to AMD 985 million 957 thousand. "During 2024, the Prosecutor's Office of Tavush Region filed 8 claims with a claim value of about AMD 7 million," informed the Prosecutor of Tavush Region and emphasized that in 2024, the courts granted 11 claims filed by the Prosecutor's office of the Region (in 2023 - 6 claims), the amount subject to confiscation amounts to AMD 23 million 953 thousand (in 2023 – AMD 9 million 381 thousand).
Anna Vardapetyan instructed the Prosecutor of the region to strengthen the fight against illegal logging in cooperation with regional partner law enforcement agencies, to keep in the spotlight the work carried out in the field of protection of state and community interests and studies on lands not subject to transfer under private ownership in riverside areas in 2025.
In the scope of the regional visit, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia visited the renovated headquarters of the Prosecutor's Office in Dilijan, where Tavush Garrison Military Prosecutor's Office is also located.
