Today Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General met Roel Dona, Secretary-General of the International Association of Prosecutors and Shenaz Muzaffer, General Counsel of the Association, who paid a two-day visit to Armenia at the invitation of the Prosecutor General.

Anna Vardapetyan congratulated Roel Dona on his re-election as a Secretary-General of the Association and discussed with the European partner the works implemented in the directions of cooperation outlined during the meeting in the Hague on March 5, 2024. 

During the conversation with Roel Dona and Shenaz Muzaffer, the Prosecutor General referred to the results of the high-level conferences organized jointly with European Council and European Union in 2023 and 2024. It should be mentioned that Giorgi Gogadze, Vice-President of the International Association of Prosecutors participated in the first conference (2023).

Roel Dona, Secretary-General of the International Association of Prosecutors thanked Anna Vardapetyan, RA Prosecutor General for the invitation and warm welcome and noted with regret that Anna Vardapetyan didn’t participate in the annual conference of the Association organized in 2023. Roel Dona attached importance to the publication of the article “On specifics of the fight against cybercrime in the Republic of Armenia” written by Anna Vardapetyan in the professional newsletter of the Association.

During the meeting the parties, discussed, among other questions, the issues related to the organization of webinars on the confiscation of property of illicit origin, fight against corruption, international crime, illegal drug circulation and cybercrime directed at the development of professional skills of the prosecutors as well as issues related to the organization of one of the annual conferences of the Association in Armenia.

At the end of the meeting Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia asked Roel Dona to convey her warm greetings to the President of the International Association of Prosecutors, Juan Bautista Mahiques and said that she hoped to see him in person in the near future.

Let us remind that the prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia has been a member of the International Association of Prosecutors since May 17, 1999.

The last visit of the Secretary-General of the International Association of Prosecutors to the Republic of Armenia was on April 22, 2009.
