Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia paid a three-day visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Today, Anna Vardapetyan met Sue Prinen, Prosecutor General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (member of the council of the Prosecutor General’s Of the Kingdom of the Netherlands) in the scope of the visit.
Viktor Biyagov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands also participated in the meeting.
Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia thanked her college for the meeting and mentioned that the meeting shall bring the existing cooperation between the Prosecutor’s Offices of two countries into a new level.
During the conversation the Prosecutor General also spoke about the increase of efficiency of cooperation in criminal cases and the necessity of development of prosecutors’ professional skills through continuous trainings in the scope of the cooperation.
In this context Anna Vardapetyan highlighted the project implemented in Armenia with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which is directed at the development of communication skills of all the prosecutors of the Republic of Armenia.
During the conversation with the colleague the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia referred to the results of conference dedicated to 105th anniversary of the establishment of the Prosecutors Office, which took place in Yerevan, last year and informed that another high-level conference will be held with the support of the European Council during April, 2024 with the participation of high-ranking officials of the European Council and member states.
The objective of the conference is to unite the high-ranking officials of several member states of the European Council and representatives of international organizations to discuss the challenges and perspectives that exist in the field of confiscation of property of illicit origin.
Referring to the issues of cooperation with the international partner organizations Anna Vardapetyan attached importance to the agreement on judicial cooperation in criminal matters between Armenia and Eurojust, envisaged to be signed in 2024 and highlighted the achievement recorded just a few weeks ago: the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia was included in the European Network of Prosecutors for the Environment (ENPE) as an observer.
During the conversation with Sue Prinen, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia represented also the priorities of the Prosecutor’s Office —fight against the money laundering, corruption, drug trafficking, and cybercrime, confiscation of illicit property.
The Public Prosecutor of the Kingdom of the Netherlands expressed a willingness to enhance the cooperation with the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and referred to several issues of mutual interest.
