On December 18, 2023 the Prosecutor General’s Office informed that public criminal prosecutions were initiated against the head of one of the settlements of Artashat Community of Ararat region and his wife’s father for appropriation of the house of social life belonging to the community and afterwards for legalizing the property in large amounts received from criminal activity.

During the preliminary examination of the criminal proceedings, a public criminal prosecution was initiated also against the wife of the head of the settlement for assisting in money laundering.

On March 1, 2024 the prosecutor signed the indictment regarding the head of the community, his wife and his father-in-law and submitted to the Anti-corruption court with the materials of the case.

Let us remind that the citizen, who has been holding the position of the head of one of the settlements of Artashat Community of Ararat region since 2005, sold the building of the house of social life, included in the balance sheet of the community to his father-in-law at a price significantly lower than the market value of the building in 2012. Years later the latter sold that property to his daughter— the wife of the head of settlement through a formal sale and purchase agreement.
