Protection of fair business is one of the priorities of the Prosecutor General’s Office: Anna Vardapetyan met the Ambassador of Sweden to the Republic of Armenia

Today, Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia met the delegation led by Patrik Svensson, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Armenia.

 

Anna Vardapetyan welcomed the Ambassador at the Prosecutor General’s Office and attached importance to the working meetings of similar format, which shall contribute to the solution of important issues as well as to the strengthening of cooperation between the Prosecutor's Offices of two countries.

 

The Prosecutor General presented priority directions of the Prosecutor General’s Office, highlighting the fight against the illicit enrichment, money laundering, corruption and cyber-crime, protection of state interests, improvement of the “young” institute of confiscation of property of illicit origin, fight against the abuses in the mining industry, etc.

 

The Ambassador stated that the Kingdom of Sweden shall support the works of the Prosecutor General’s Office in the abovementioned directions. He also asked about the actions taken to increase the confidence of citizens and businesses in whistleblowing system, adding that companies having Swedish capital are interested in the prospect of investing and conducting business activity in Armenia. Anna Vardapetyan provided necessary information to the Ambassador regarding the operation of the platform and highlighted that protection of fair business is one of the priorities of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

 

During the meeting they also addressed the perspectives on cooperation in the field of educational and technical support.
