Deputy Prosecutor General initiated a public criminal prosecution against Judge T.P. for receiving a particularly large scale bribe

By the decision of the Deputy Prosecutor General, a public criminal prosecution was initiated against T.P., Judge of the Bankruptcy Court for receiving a particularly large scale bribe (points 2 and 3 of part 3 of article 435 of the Criminal Code).

 

The decision was submitted to the Anti-corruption committee. A charge was brought against the Judge. The Judge was arrested. 

 

It must be mentioned that on December 14, 2023, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia submitted a motion to the Supreme Judicial Council on initiating a public criminal prosecution against the judge with regard to the exercise of the powers of the judge and on giving consent for depriving him of liberty under articles 51 and 161 of the Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia.

 

The Supreme Judicial Council convened a session in the procedure envisaged by the Judicial Code and awarded motions of the RA Prosecutor General on initiating a public criminal prosecution against T.P., Judge of the Bankruptcy court as well as on giving consent for depriving him of liberty.

 

Notice:  A person charged with any crime shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code—by the judgment came into legal force.
