On October 20, 2020, the examination on the property belonging to Vachagan Ghazaryan, the former Head of the Security of the third President of the Republic of Armenia, and his affiliated persons began in the Department for Confiscation of Property of Illicit Origin of the Prosecutor General’s Office. As a result of the examination, on May 31, 2022, the Prosecutor General’s Office submitted a claim to the Anti-Corruption Court for the confiscation of property of illicit origin, demanding to confiscate property of illicit origin with a market value of 1 billion 647 million AMD and 7 billion AMD from Vachagan Ghazaryan and his affiliated persons in favor of the Republic of Armenia.

On August 22, 2023, Vachagan Ghazaryan and his affiliates submitted an application to the Prosecutor General's Office on partially accepting the claim and transfering the 4 immovable properties of the “Yerablur” military pantheon included in the claim to the ownership of the Republic of Armenia. Based on the application, on August 22, 2023, a conciliation agreement was signed between the RA Prosecutor General's Office and the applicants, which was submitted to the Anti-Corruption Court on the same day for approval in accordance with the law.

At the session held at the Anti-Corruption Court on August 30, 2023, it was decided that the judicial act will be published tomorrow, August 31.

Regarding the rest of the claim, the examination of the claim submitted by the Department for Confiscation of Property of Illicit Origin of the Prosecutor General’s Office continues in the Anti-Corruption Court.

It should be reminded that the mentioned 4 properties were assessed as properties acquired through crime, within the framework of the criminal proceedings under investigation in the Main Directorate of Investigation of the National Security Service.
