The prosecutor has submitted to the court the criminal proceedings files concerning 13 individuals who participated in mass riots in Gyumri and used violence against police officers

On June 2, 2026, the prosecutor submitted to the court, along with the approved indictment, the files of the criminal proceedings concerning 13 individuals who participated in the mass riots that took place on October 20, 2025, in the building of the Gyumri Municipality and the adjacent square, used violence against officers of the Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, and damaged property.

 

On May 19, 2026, within the framework of criminal proceedings pending at the Investigative Committee, the prosecutor initiated public criminal prosecution against the 13 individuals.

 

Public criminal prosecution was initiated against 4 individuals under part 3 of Article 452 of the Criminal Code (use of violence with the purpose of interfering with the lawful official activities of a public official) and part 1 of Article 327 (participation in mass disturbances threatening public safety, accompanied by violence and property damage); against 8 individuals under Article 46 in conjunction with part 1 of Article 327 (aiding and abetting participation in mass disturbances); against 1 individual under part 2 of Article 452 (damaging the property of a public official with the purpose of interfering with his or her lawful official activities) and Article 46 in conjunction with part 1 of Article 327.

 

It should be recalled that on January 21, 2026, the prosecutor submitted to the competent court, along with an approved indictment, the criminal proceedings files concerning four individuals—Spartak Ghukasyan, Karapet Ghukasyan, Avetis Arakelyan and Artyom Mkrtchyan—who were accused of organizing and leading the aforementioned mass riots and the violence committed against police officers.

 

Notice:  A person charged with any crime shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code—by the judgment came into legal force.
