Integrity, restraint and ethics: The Prosecutor General meets with students undergoing professional internships at the Prosecutor’s Office

On February 6, 2026, Anna Vardapetyan, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia,  received 24 students from Yerevan State University and the French University in Armenia who are undergoing professional internships at the Prosecutor’s Office, at the Legal Laboratory operating in the administrative building of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

 

Anna Vardapetyan welcomed the students and addressed the priorities of the Prosecutor’s Office, including the fight against crime, protection of state (community) interests, protection of human rights, confiscation of property of illicit origin and other sectors.

 

The Prosecutor General of the Republic discussed with the students the integrity requirements for prosecutors and prosecutor candidates, as well as the behavioral and ethical standards applicable to them and to individuals undergoing educational interships at the Prosecutor’s Office. In this context, the Prosecutor General emphasized the requirement of restraint, which applies to speech, demeanor, conduct and appearance.

 

Lala Begoyan, Deputy Secretary General of the Prosecutor’s Office presented the rights, duties and ethical rules applicable to interns.

 

Mane Markosyan, Adviser to the Prosecutor General touched upon the opportunities offered by the YSU Legal Laboratory operating in the administrative building of the Prosecutor General’s Office, which functions on the basis of cooperation between Yerevan State University, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian Legal Association. She noted that the Laboratory is a professional, non-formal platform where, through joint efforts, professional discussions, practical work, seminars and conferences on current legal topics are organized, as well as scientific research is also conducted.

 

With the support of Yerevan State University, all computers available in the Laboratory provide access to leading international electronic libraries and digital scientific resources acquired by the YSU. These electronic libraries include academic journals, e-books, as well as research articles published by internationally recognized publishing houses.

 

The above-mentioned resources make it possible to familiarize oneself with the latest developments in jurisprudence and related fields, conduct in-depth research, and use such scholarly resources as:

 

  • the JSTOR digital library,
    • the “EBSCO” database,
    • textbooks published by “EDWARD ELGAR” publishing house,
    • resources of the “ScienceDirect” platform,
    • the “Oxford Academic” platform,
    • the “Brill Humanities & Social Sciences Collection” of digital journals,
    • the “Cambridge Core” academic platform,
    • the “Research4Life” database,
    • EIFL commercial resources, including the “ACM Digital Library” and “ASTM International”.
