Protection of state interests, confiscation of property of illegal origin; Prosecutor General met the students of the Human Rights School “ARTICLE 3”

Today, Anna Vardapetyan, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia received students of the Human Rights School “ARTICLE 3” of the Educational Center “For Equal Rights”.

 

During the meeting, Anna Vardapetyan touched upon the outcomes recorded by the Prosecutor’s Office in the field of prevention of corruption-related crimes, confiscation of property of illegal origin, including in the field of protection of state and community interests, the work carried out to combat illicit drug trafficking, as well as the requirements submitted by persons wishing to become candidates of prosecutor.

 

Touching upon the work carried out in the direction of confiscation of property of illegal origin, the Prosecutor General noted that currently 150 lawsuits are under consideration by the Anti-Corruption Court, about 1,500 immovable and 290 movable properties, and participation in 400 legal entities have been seized, AMD 540 billion, and the total claim amount is about AMD 600 billion. There are nine settlement agreements, a judicial act that has entered into legal force. By means of a judicial act that has entered into legal force, the ownership right of the Republic of Armenia has been registered over 1 apartment located on Vardanants Street in Yerevan and 1 residential house located in Arinj community of Kotayk region, equivalent to 50 thousand 720 euros and AMD 878 thousand subject to confiscation have already been transferred to the Unified Account for Recovered Funds.

 

During 2024 actually about AMD 2 billion 785 million (about 7 million 69 thousand US dollars) of property with a cadastral value approximated to the market (the market values of the mentioned properties significantly exceed the cadastral values approximated to the market) were recovered in the field of protection of state and community interests, judicial acts made.

 

In 2024 according to the claims filed by the prosecutors, the ownership rights of the Republic of Armenia or the community were registered over 18 units of real estate with a cadastral value estimated at about AMD 2 billion 785 million 511 thousand drams.

 

The Military Prosecutor's Office, restored AMD 4 billion 463 million, equivalent to 11 million 310 thousand US dollars in the framework of the authority of the state interests protection.

 

During the first half of 2025, the ownership rights of the Republic of Armenia were restored over 7 properties. The cadastral value estimated at about AMD 3 billion 365 million.

 

During the first half of 2025, the ownership rights of communities were restored over 5 properties. The cadastral value estimated at about AMD 275 million.

 

Started from December 5, 2024 to present AMD 17 billion 433 million have been deposited to the Unified Account for Recovered Funds.

 

During the discussion that continued in the question-and-answer format, answering one of the students regarding the requirements for candidates of prosecutors, Anna Vardapetyan mentioned that the Prosecutor's Office announced an open competition on June 16, 2025 to supplement the list of prosecutor candidates. The deadline for submitting applications is July 16, 2025.
