27/06/2025

Today Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia and Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Rector of the Yerevan State University, announced with the ribbon cutting ceremony the official launch of YSU Legal Laboratory—YSU structural unit in the administrative building of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Decision of the Board of Trustees of the Yerevan State University rendered on December 25, 2024, as well as the Trilateral Memorandum of Cooperation signed between Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, Yerevan State University Foundation and Armenian Bar Association on August 28, 2024 constituted the basis for establishment of the Legal Laboratory.

Anna Vardapetyan congratulated the participants for the establishment of the Legal Laboratory in the Prosecutor General’s Office. The Prosecutor General highlighted that the Laboratory shall be a “point of connection” for theoretical and practical knowledge, it shall be a non-formal education platform, where discussion of current legal issues, practical work, seminars and conferences as well as examination of legal issues shall be organized.

“We have created a platform, where advanced undergraduate students in particular, who have some knowledge, will have a chance to improve their theoretical knowledge, to communicate with the prosecutors and participate in the master classes. The Prosecutor’s Office aims to keep its doors open for the best professionals. We have one criterion—choosing the best and choosing the integrious ones”, mentioned the Prosecutor General of the Republic.

According to Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, YSU Rector, only the combination of practical and theoretical knowledge can yield a result. “We try to have similar platforms for different professions, organize industrial internships for our students in deferent organizations and institutions, including in the Prosecutor’s Office. Our students do their industrial internship at different state bodies, however having YSU structural subdivision in the Prosecutor General’s Office is a completely different approach, as our students will have a chance to communicate with the prosecutors”, highlighted YSU Rector.

Chris Parnagian, representative of the “Armenian Bar Association”, highlighted that the Association is proud to collaborate and support the implementation of the Program. According to him there are a lot of talented lawyers in the Association practicing in criminal and other fields, who can cooperate with the Laboratory.

We would like to add that in the scope of the Laboratory, organization of experience exchange with the Armenian lawyers working in the diaspora is envisaged.
