Alexan Mkrtchyan, the former head of the Food Safety Inspection Body of Armavir regional center organized the process of destroying one truck of about 300,000 eggs returned to Armenia due to the expiration date of the food production company "Myas" LLC, in violation of the established procedure, receiving a bribe of AMD 250 thousand in return, has been sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 4 years and 6 months, a fine of AMD 1 million 830 thousand and was deprived of the right to hold public service positions for a period of 3 years.

In the criminal case examined by the Anti-Corruption Committee and submitted to the competent court with an indictment, it was revealed that Gurgen Petrosyan, the chief specialist-inspector of the same Center of the Food Safety Inspection Body, signed an act on the destruction of dangerous products containing false information, according to which about 300,000 eggs with expired expiration dates were allegedly destroyed, and Rudik Hovhannisyan, the Director of “Myas” LLC, assisted in the preparation of that act. Gurgen Petrosyan transferred the false act to the Head of the same Center, Aleksan Mkrtchyan, informing him that the entire batch of eggs subject to destruction was not actually destroyed.

By the verdict of the Anti-Corruption Court of March 6, 2025, the head of the Armavir Regional Center of the Food Safety Inspection Body, Aleksan Mkrtchyan, was found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 4 years and 6 months, a fine of AMD 1 million 830 thousand, and was deprived of the right to hold public service positions for a term of 3 years. Gurgen Petrosyan, the Chief Specialist - Inspector of the same Center, was found guilty and sentenced to a fine of AMD 1 million 174 thousand. Rudik Hovhannisyan, the director of "Myas" LLC, was found guilty and sentenced to 2 years imprisonment, which was not applied conditionally, the fine of AMD 750 thousand was applied.
