An extended session of the collegium chaired by the Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia was held on March 14, 2025 and the work of the Prosecutor’s Office during 2024 was summerized.
Aram Aramyan, Deputy Prosecutor General represented the work of the following departments of the Prosecutor General’s Office during 2024—Department for Cases of Crimes against State Power, Department for Combating Economic Crimes, Department for Crimes against Public Health.
Lilit Grigoryan, Deputy Prosecutor General represented the work of the following departments of the Prosecutor General’s Office during 2024—Department of State Interests Protection, Department for Combating Crimes against Human as well as Department for Crimes against Property.
Yeghiazar Avagyan, Deputy Prosecutor General represented the work of the following departments of the Prosecutor General’s Office during 2024—Department of International Legal Cooperation, Department of Organization, Supervision and Legal Assistance and Department of Supervision over Legality of Application of Penalties and Other Means of Compulsion.
Edgar Arsenyan, Deputy Prosecutor General, represnted the work of the Department of Confiscation of Property of Illicit Origin of the Prosecutor General’s Office during 2024, and highlighted that the Department conducted 163 examinations during 2024 (82 examinations during 2023). From the date of organization, the Department submitted 136 statements of claim to the Anti-corruption court. Under 21 statements of claim the Anti-corruption court rendered a decision on distributing the burden of proof and moved to the trial stage: at present they are examining the evidence.
Grigor Elizbaryan, Deputy Prosecutor General, represented cases registered in the Army, initiated criminal proceedings, criminal proceedings submitted to the court by the prosecutors with signed indictments, criminal cases completed in the courts as well as examinations conducted by the state interests’ protection department during 2024.
Koryun Serobyan, Acting Head of the Department of Supervision over Legality of Pre-Trial Proceedings in the RA Anti-Corruption Committee of the Prosecutor General’s Office represented the work of the abovementioned department during 2024, highlighting that 2077 reports were received in the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia during the reporting period, wherefrom 1810 report on corruption crimes. 749 criminal proceedings were initiated based on 1810 reports on corruption crimes.
After the report of the Deputies of the Prosecutor General, Lusine Martirosyan, Adviser to Prosecutor General and Lala Begoyan, Deputy of the Secretary General represented the results of the anonymous survey conducted among the prosecutors, civil servants of the Prosecutor’s Office, persons holding discretionary position and persons working under the civil contract during 2024.
After the representation of the results of the survey the swearing-in ceremony of 22 prosecutors assuming their positions and duties took place.
Summerizing the work of the Prosecutor’s Office during 2024, Anna Vardapetyan gave several assignments. She also assigned to conduct evaluation of the work of Prosecutor’s Offices of regions and administrative districts twice a year.
Sumerizing her speech Anna Vardapetyan highlighted, “I would like to thank all of you and each of you personally for your work. I paid a working visit to 15 subdivisions of the Prosecutor’s Office and saw a positive change in the quality, quantity and volume of work. Each of you worked and had a contribution to such change. I want you to be sure, that your efforts and contributions to the work of the Prosecutor’s Office are visible and appriciated. This is the aim of the assignment regarding evaluation of the work of Prosecutor’s Offices of regions and administrative districts twice a year and I would like to promote healthy professional competition at the Prosecutor’s Office.
Although there wasn’t such assignment during this year, I decided to give monetary reward to the Prosecutor’s Offices of Armavir, Ararat and Kotayk regions based on the annual results for their professional, carrying and dedicated team work”.
I would like to congratulate the prosecutors occupying the position of a prosecutor for the first time and welcome you to the Prosecutor’s Office. I am hopeful that you will integrate into already solid structure of the Prosecutor's Office, and will assume the responsibility and caring attitude that the Prosecutor's Office has towards every employee.
