On February 20, 2025, the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of Gegharkunik Region for 2024 were summarized under the leadership of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan.

The summary meeting was attended by Yeghiazar Avagyan, the Deputy Prosecutor General of the RA, Gagik Ayvazyan, the Prosecutor of Gegharkunik Region, Karen Sargsyan, Governor of Gegharkunik Region, Mher Aprikyan, Secretary General of the Prosecutor’s Office, the leaders of the regional structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Security Service, Investigative Committee and Prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office of the region and others.

Gagik Ayvazyan presented the report on the activities of the Prosecutor's Office of Gegharkunik region for 2024 and informed that during 2024, Prosecutor's Office of Gegharkunik Region submitted 2315 criminal proceedings (in 2023 – 2328 criminal proceedings). Judgments of conviction were delivered in 578 criminal cases against 615 persons (in 2023 - 420 criminal proceedings against 470 persons), 588 criminal cases were completed at the court on 640 persons (in 2023- 257 cases on 284 persons).

Over AMD 62,8 million (in 2023 – AMD 2,3 million) was recovered from the damage caused to the state and community in the result of criminal proceedings during 2024.

In one of the criminal proceedings under investigation, based on a motion submitted by the prosecutor, the ownership right to the 4,310 square meter land plot belonging to Gavar Orphanage located at Grigor Narekatsi Street 3, Gavar town, Gegharkunik region, and the real estate located on it with a total area of ​​511 square meters was recovered. The cadastral value of the property, approximated to the market value, is AMD 29 million 82 thousand.

The prosecutor of Gegharkunik Region informed that in the framework of the criminal proceedings, during 2024, the community's ownership right was registered to the 6.5 ha land plot of the stadium in Martuni town, Gegharkunik region, submitted by the prosecutor, the person with the right to rent was notified about the termination of the lease agreement. Measures are being undertaken to invalidate the registration of the person's ownership right on 5 buildings located on the land plot.

Gagik Ayvazyan, referring to the activities for 2024 carried out in the Prosecutor's Office of Gegharkunik Region within the framework of the authority to protect state and community interest, mentioned that 19 studies were conducted in that sphere, out of which 3 were transferred from 2023 (7 studies during 2023). 2 violations have been detected in 2 cases, 8 people have been sent notifications to recover the damage, violation was not found in 1 case and 16 cases are underway. 

The Prosecutor General, Anna Vardapetyan, instructed the Prosecutor of the Region, inter alia, to make prevention of illegal hunting of whitefish and trout stricter and continue the activities in the sphere of protection of state and community interests in cooperation with the partner law enforcement agencies.
