The activities of 2024 of the Prosecutor’s Office of Shirak Region were summarized

On February 15, 2025, the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of Shirak Region for 2024 were summarized under the leadership of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan.

 

The summary meeting was attended by Yeghiazar Avagyan, the Deputy Prosecutor General of the RA, Armen Chichoyan, the Prosecutor of Shirak Region, Davit Arushanyan, Governor of Shirak Region, Mher Aprikyan, Secretary General of the Prosecutor’s Office, the leaders of the regional structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Security Service, Investigative Committee and Prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office of the region and others.

 

Armen Chichoyan presented the report on the activities of the Prosecutor's Office of Shirak region for 2024, focusing, inter alia, on the criminal proceedings submitted to the court with an indictment by the prosecutors.

 

In this context, the Prosecutor of the Region reported that during 2024, Prosecutor's Office of Shirak Region submitted 509 criminal proceedings against 588 persons (in 2023 - 262 criminal proceedings against 296 persons), judgments of conviction were delivered in 522 criminal cases against 578 persons (in 2023 - 262 criminal cases against 298 persons).

 

According to Armen Chichoyan, in 2024, 385 cases of illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs were recorded in Shirak Region (in 2023 - 329 cases). The cases increased by 56 or 17%. In parallel with the increase in cases, the rate of disclosure of crimes of this nature increased by 40.3% compared to 25.2% in 2023. In 2023, decrease by 5.7% in cases of illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs for the purpose of sale was recorded in 2024, 248 cases were recorded, compared to 263 cases recorded in 2023.

 

Anna Vardapetyan instructed the Prosecutor of Shirak Region and Prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Office to intensify work aimed at combating illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and improving the quality of investigations in a number of other areas in cooperation with the representatives of partner law enforcement agencies.
