Today, Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia met the delegation led by Lilja Gretarsdottir, Head of the Department for the Implementation of Human Rights, Justice and Legal Cooperation Standards. Lilit Daneghyan, Deputy Head of the Division of Cooperation Programs on Justice and Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Maxime Longangue, Head of Council of Europe Office in Yerevan also participated in the meeting.
Anna Vardapetyan welcomed the high ranking officials of the Council of Europe at the Prosecutor General’s Office and mentioned that such meetings provide an opportunity to emphasize the effectiveness of cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and relevant bodies of the Council of Europe and outline the prospects of cooperation.
In this context RA Prosecutor General highly appreciated high level conferences (“Prosecutorial Independence in Upholding the Rule of Law” and “Strengthening the Effectiveness of International Cooperation in Fighting Transnational Organized Crime”) organized jointly with the Council of Europe and European Union partners, as well as the presentation of the Armenian collection of opinions of the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors on November 15, 2024.
Lilja Gretarsdottir thanked Anna Vardapetyan for the meeting as well as for representing the results of joint programs and highlighted that the cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, inter alia, is one of the best examples in terms of content.
Responding to the question of the High Representative of the Council of Europe regarding the priorities of the Prosecutor’s Office, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia mentioned that the confiscation of property of illicit origin and fight against the cybercrime are among the priorities of the Prosecutor’s Office, and represented the works implemented in this direction as well as recorded results.
During the meeting they discussed several issues of mutual interest and also referred to prospects of implementing new joint projects.
