The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, during her working visit to Aragatsotn region, held a meeting at the Prosecutor's office of the region.

The meeting was attended by Armen Panosyan, Head of the Department for Cases of Crimes against the Fundamentals of the Constitutional Order, State and Public Security of the Prosecutor General's Office, Edgar Arsenyan, Department of Supervision over Legality of Pre-trial Proceedings in the RA Anti-Corruption Committee of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Gevorg Sargsyan, the newly appointed Prosecutor of Aragatsotn region, and the prosecutors of the Prosecutor's office of the region.

Gevorg Sargsyan presented to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia the course of criminal proceedings regarding crimes of corruption nature, state power, economic activity and environmental safety.

Currently, the prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Office of Aragatsotn region are monitoring the legality of the preliminary investigation of criminal proceedings regarding 22 cases of crime of corruption nature, 20 cases of crime against environmental security, 23 cases of crime against the state authority, and 13 cases of crime against economic activity the total amount of damage caused is about AMD 600 million.

Anna Vardapetyan ordered to regularly demand the criminal proceedings initiated by the above-mentioned crimes, to give instructions, to apply all possible measures of prosecutorial intervention in order to ensure the proper and comprehensive investigation of criminal proceedings, in the direction of restoring the damages caused to the state and the community.

The Prosecutor General of the Republic has been informed of the progress of a number of criminal proceedings regarding serious and particularly serious crimes against people, illegal drug trafficking, illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation, and possession of firearms and ammunition.

At the end of the meeting, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, accompanied by the Prosecutor of the region, showed the renovated building of the Prosecutor's Office of the Region, got acquainted with the working conditions of the prosecutors.
