After the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Armenia overturned the decision to terminate the criminal proceedings, as well as after the application of prosecutorial intervention measures, on January 20, 2024, on the initiative of the prosecutor, public criminal prosecutions were initiated in the course of the criminal proceedings for a serious crime, investigated for a long time before and previously dismissed on the basis of lack of criminal record.
It was affirmed in the course of preliminary investigation that M. M., having reached a preliminary agreement with 3 other persons, on August 20, 2020, chased A. H. by car in the territory of Tavush region, kidnapped the latter, causing bodily injuries. M. M., together with the above-mentioned persons, took A. H. to his house in the village, threatened to use violence and took mobile phone accessories worth about 630 thousand AMD after which A. H. was allowed to leave.
On January 20, 2024, the prosecutor initiated a public criminal prosecution against M. M., A. M. and T. H. under Article 131, Part 2, Points 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code adopted on 18.04.2003 (kidnapping of a person by a group of persons with prior consent by using life-threatening violence) and under Article 322, Part 2 of the Criminal Code. Y. M. was charged under Article 131 Part 2, Points 1 and 2 of the RA Criminal Code.
On February 2, 2024, the prosecutor approved the indictment on the accused and submitted the proceedings to the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Tavush region.
On August 2, 2024, the court issued an indictment, and on September 12, 2024 all defendants were sentenced to prison.
