After about two years of trial the First Instance Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction of the city of Yerevan granted the claim of the Prosecutor’s Office (the prosecutor required imprisonment for the term of 7 years) by the decision dated January 9, 2024 and the person holding the position of the judge of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Gegharkunik marz (the powers are suspended) was found guilty in committing fraud in especially large amounts and sentenced to imprisonment for the term of 4 years.  

Charges were brought against the judge, whose powers were suspended for committing the following crime—the latter holding the position of the judge of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Gegharkunik marz (the powers are suspended) appropriated through fraud and abuse of trust AMD equivalent to USD 20 thousand from S.M through the latter’s relative M.M.

In particular, the judge, whose powers are now suspended, promised to render a new judicial act in favor of S.M. by submitting a new statement of claim based on the newly appeared circumstances: under this pretext he required USD 20 thousand, knowing that there are no ground for revision of judicial act, that has entered into legal force.

 Notice:  A person charged with any crime shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code—by the judgment came into legal force.
