Anna Vardapetyan discussed the cooperation perspectives with Christos Giakoumopoulos

Today Anna Vardapetyan, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia had an online meeting with Christos Giakoumopoulos, Director General of Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe.

 

Anna Vardapetyan expressed gratitude to the high-level EC colleague for the support to the conference "Prosecutorial Independence in Upholding the Rule of Law" held on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the establishment of the Prosecutor's Office and the Day of the employee of the Prosecutor's Office.

 

The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia emphasized the high assessment of the leaders of the 7 delegations that arrived in Armenia to participate in the Conference regarding the effectiveness of the discussions on the prosecutorial internal and external independence, accountability and ethics of the Prosecutor's Office.

 

Based on the desire of the both sides regarding the continuation of joint activity, Anna Vardapetyan suggested to Christos Giacomopoulos discussing the possibility of holding a second conference in a similar format at the end of 2023 or in spring of 2024, on the topic of the confiscation of property of illegal origin.

 

In the course of the meeting, the Prosecutor General of the Republic highly appreciated the visit of the high-level delegation of the Council of Europe to the starting point of the blocked Lachin Corridor, which was also attended by Christos Giacomopoulos.
