During May 2026, prosecutors of the Department of Supervision over Legality of Pre-trial Proceedings in the RA Anti-Corruption Committee of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia submitted to the competent court, along with approved indictments, five criminal cases concerning electoral offenses involving a total of 16 individuals.
These include:
- One criminal proceeding against one person accused of two counts of giving electoral bribes and two persons accused of accepting electoral bribes;
- One criminal proceeding against five persons accused of three counts of giving electoral bribes and violating the prohibition on charity and receiving electoral bribes;
- One criminal proceeding against two persons accused of violating the prohibition of charity and aiding and abetting it;
- One criminal proceeding against one person accused of giving electoral bribes, 2 counts of inciting material interest in order to participate in the rally, and 1 person accused of receiving electoral bribes as a group;
- One criminal proceeding against three persons accused of obstructing the exercise of electoral rights, as well as attempting and preparing to commit such obstruction.
In particular:
- The head of the security team of the “Strong Armenia” Party offered two voters employment, an apartment, a land plot, and a public position in exchange for votes cast by them and their family members in favor of the party.
- A member of the “Strong Armenia” Party, instead of providing household appliances that had been promised to a voter under the guise of charity, transferred money to the voter, thereby violating the prohibition on charitable activities during elections.
- A supporter of the “Strong Armenia” Party, together with two other individuals, obstructed and attempted to obstruct the free exercise of electoral rights by community leaders and residents of communities in Syunik Province, demanding that they vote for the political force they supported and threatening adverse consequences in the event of non-compliance.
In the same proceedings, one individual was also charged with two counts of electoral bribery for offering voters partial debt forgiveness and promises of employment and assistance in resolving official matters in exchange for votes.
- The head of the office of the “Our Way” non-governmental organization, who in practice performed the functions of the person responsible for a “Strong Armenia” Party office, provided electoral bribes to four individuals in exchange for voting in favor of the party. He also transferred 200,000 drams to a citizen in violation of the prohibition on charitable activities during elections.
- A regional coordinator of the “Strong Armenia” Party provided electoral bribes to two citizens and induced two other individuals to participate in a rally held on April 17, 2026, by promising them material assistance in the form of food products.
Notice: A person charged with any crime shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty in the manner prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code—by the judgment came into legal force.
