Cases of criminal offences decreased, rates of detection increased, increase in detection rate; report on the activities of the Prosecutor's Office for 2025 was published

The Prosecutor General's Office has published the report on the activities of the Prosecutor's Office for 2025 on its official website in accordance with Article 5, Part 2 of the RA Law "On the Prosecutor's Office".

 

During 2025, 40,722 criminal offences [1] were committed in the Republic of Armenia (42,057 in 2024), out of which 18,857 (19,877 in 2024) were committed in Yerevan. Compared to 2024, cases of criminal offences in 2025 decreased by 1,335 or 3.2%.

Increase in the detection rate of criminal offences was recorded in 2025. The disclosure rate in 2025 was 29.7%, compared to 22.8% in 2024. Thus, compared with 2024, the detection rate in 2025 increased by 6.9%.

 

Compared with 2024, the number of criminal offences of minor gravity decreased by 1,516 or 7% (21,557 cases in 2024, 20,041 cases in 2025), grave criminal offences increased by 795 or 6.2% (12,790 cases in 2024, 13,585 cases in 2025), the number of grave criminal offences decreased by 486 or 8.6% (5,630 cases in 2024, 5,144 cases in 2025), and the number of particularly grave crimes (excluding sudden deaths) increased by 65 or 10.9% (596 in 2024, 661 cases in 2025).

 

The absolute majority of 40,722 criminal cases, 82.6%, are minor (20,041 cases or 49.2% of cases) and medium gravity (13,585 cases or 33.4% of cases) crimes, that is, crimes that pose a lower public danger.

 

Compared to 2024, a decrease in the specific weight of grave and particularly grave crimes in the total volume of crime was recorded by 0.9% (in 2024, the mentioned indicator was 18.3%, and in 2025 - 17.4%).

 

During 2025, compared to 2024, a decrease in property crimes by 1,650 cases or 13.7% was recorded in the Republic of Armenia (in 2024 - 12,050 cases, in 2025 - 10,400 cases). The number of cases decreased by 653 or 8.9% (7,338 cases in 2024, 6,685 cases in 2025) in Yerevan city.

 

According to the data of the Police Crime Statistics and Research Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the number of cases of crimes committed in violation of road traffic rules decreased in the Republic of Armenia in 2025. If 1,918 cases were recorded in 2024, then 1,772 cases in 2025, that is, the number of cases decreased by 146 or 7.6%.

 

In 2025, a decrease in cases of hooliganism was recorded by 100 or 11.4% (877 cases in 2024, 777 cases in 2025).

 

During the reporting period, the number of crimes related to the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors amounted to 4,170, compared to 3,485 cases recorded in 2024 (an increase of 685 cases or 19.7%). The number of cases of illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs amounted to 3,631, compared to 3,017 in 2024 (an increase of 614 cases or 20.4%). Moreover, the number of cases of illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs for the purpose of sale amounted to 2,176, which increased by 243 or 12.6% compared to 1,933 cases recorded in 2024. The number of cases of drug smuggling amounted to 225, compared to 322 in the previous year (a decrease of 97 cases or 30.1%). The detection rate of drug-related crimes in 2025 was 26.3%, compared to 13.8% in 2024. As a result of measures taken by the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Armenia in 2025, 768 kg 886.6 grams of various types of drugs were seized from illegal circulation, compared to 426 kg 563 grams in 2024. 235.6 grams of psychotropic substances were also seized, compared to 750.17 grams in 2024.

 

[1] The numerical indicators regarding criminal offences are presented based on data provided by the Crime Statistics and Crime Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, based on Part 2 of Article 11 of the RA Law “On Police”, according to which the Police is obliged to accept, register and record applications and reports on crimes and other offenses, accidents, in accordance with the procedure established by the Government, and to process them accordingly. The mentioned procedure was established by the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia No. 1495-N of November 23, 2017.
