No Homicide Cases recorded in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia in 2025: Military Prosecutor

On March 7, 2026, an expanded session of the Prosecutor’s Office Collegium was held under the leadership of the RA Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan, during which the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office for 2025 were summarized.

 

Deputy Prosecutor General and Military Prosecutor Grigor Elizbaryan presented the incidents recorded in the RA Armed Forces during 2025, the criminal proceedings initiated, the criminal cases submitted to court by prosecutors along with indictments, the criminal cases completed in courts, as well as the examinations conducted in the field of state interests protection and the results therof.

 

According to the Military Prosecutor, 2,248 incidents were recorded in the military units of the Armed Forces and other troops of Armenia in 2025.


Of the recorded incidents, 1,027 (45.7%) were accidents, while 1,221 (54.3%) were alleged crimes.

 

Referring to crime cases, Grigor Elizbaryan emphasized that a decrease of 110 cases (8.3%) was recorded.

 

Compared to 2024, in 2025 grave crimes decreased by 49 cases (27.5%), while especially grave crimes decreased by 25 cases (64.1%).

 

According to the Military Prosecutor, no homicide cases were recorded in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia in 2025.

 

In 2025, the following service-related deaths were recorded: 6 conscript servicemen, 2 conscript servicemen from the National Security Service Border Troops, 1 member of the volunteer militia.

 

During 2025, the damage caused to the state in criminal proceedings under investigation and examined by investigative bodies amounted to AMD 411 million 728 thousand (in 2024 – AMD 1 billion 479 million 117 thousand), whereof AMD 108 million 712 thousand were recovered during pre-trial proceedings (in 2024 – AMD 51 million 935 thousand).

 

In addition, AMD 1 million 300 thousand of damage caused to the state were recovered through the enforcement of judicial acts.

 

In 2025, prosecutors of the Military Prosecutor’s Office submitted 943 criminal cases involving 1,070 persons to courts of general jurisdiction along with indictments (in 2024 – 905 cases involving 1,027 persons).

 

In 2025, 856 criminal cases involving 951 persons were examined and completed in court, whereof 708 cases completed with a judgment of conviction, and 785 persons were convicted.

 

According to the Military Prosecutor, 280 examinations conducted in 2025 by the Division of State Interests Protection of the Central Military Prosecutor’s Office and the military prosecutor’s offices of the garrisons revealed damage to the state amounting to AMD 1 billion 432 million 493 thousand (in 2024 – AMD 5 billion 677 million 550 thousand).

 

In 2025, AMD 938 million 80 thousand of the damage caused to the state were recovered, whereof AMD 924 million 294 thousand were recovered extrajudicially by the Division of State Interests Protection.

 

From damages recorded as a result of examinations conducted in 2024, AMD 92 million 213 thousand were recovered during 2025.

 

During 2025, military prosecutors filed 24 claims in the field of state interests protection (in 2024 – 19 claims). The total claim amount for recovery under these 24 claims is AMD 4 billion 564 million 117 thousand.
