Deputy Prosecutor General has presented work done in the field of confiscation of property of illicit origin to the representatives of UN member states

 Edgar Arsenyan, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia and Tsovak Mnatsakanyan, Senior Prosecutor of the Department of Supervision over Legality of Pre-trial Proceedings in the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Prosecutor General’s Office participated in the 11th session of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) in the State of Qatar.

 

During the visit, Edgar Arsenyan and Tsovak Mnatsakanyan met with the delegation headed by the Prosecutor General of Moldova in order to discuss the methodology for investigating electoral crimes, taking into account the best practices of the Republic of Moldova in the field of investigating this type of crime. During the meeting, the tools used by the two countries in the field of corruption crimes, as well as mechanisms for increasing the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation in this field, were discussed.

 

Representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office participated in the discussion on the topic “Possibilities of using artificial intelligence in the field of investigating financial crimes”. The possibilities of conducting preliminary investigations using artificial intelligence were presented.

 

Edgar Arsenyan and Tsovak Mnatsakanyan also met with representatives of the law enforcement agencies of the United Arab Emirates and discussed the legal assistance requests sent to the UAE by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia.

 

Within the framework of their visit to the State of Qatar, representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office participated in the thematic discussion "Cooperation against Corruption and Crime", during which they got acquainted with the best practices of the participating countries in the fight against corruption, discussed the possibilities of more effective cooperation in international cooperation.

 

Representatives of the Prosecutor's Office also met with representatives of the Interpol office, discussed a number of issues of mutual interest.

 

Within the framework of the Conference of the Member States of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), Edgar Arsenyan and Tsovak Mnatsakanyan took part in hearings on the topic "Transparency of real owners of property: from obligation to influence", during which the representative of the Armenian delegation presented the activity undertaken in the field.

 

On December 18, during the COSP11 general event, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Edgar Arsenyan presented to representatives of UN member states and international organizations the outcomes recorded by the Republic of Armenia in the field of confiscation of illegal assets, the existing challenges and the activity being carried out to overcome them.
