Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan had a meeting with President of the Italian Court of Military Appeals Giuseppe Mazzi

On November 7, 2025, within the framework of her working visit to the Italian Republic, Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia met with Giuseppe Mazzi, President of the Court of Military Appeals of the Italian Republic and Marco De Paolis, Military Prosecutor General at the Court of Military Appeals.

 

The meeting was also attended by Vladimir Karapetyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Italian Republic; Grigor Elizbaryan, Military Prosecutor of the Republic of Armenia, Deputy Prosecutor General and Yeghiazar Avagyan, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia.

 

Anna Vardapetyan expressed her gratitude to the President of the Court of Military Appeals for the warm reception and emphasized that the purpose of her visit was the upcoming signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Enhancing Cooperation between the Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and the Office of the Military Prosecutor General at the Supreme Court of Cassation of the Italian Republic.

 

She presented to her Italian colleagues the powers of the Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, noting that it initiates criminal prosecutions related with crimes committed within the armed forces and other troops, exercises supervision over the legality of pre-trial criminal proceedings, represents the prosecution in court, appeals court verdicts, judgments and decisions, and oversees the legality of the enforcement of punishments and other coercive measures.

 

“In exceptional cases and in the manner prescribed by law, the Military Prosecutor’s Office also files claims in court for state interests protection,” emphasized the Prosecutor General of Armenia, elaborating on the structure and specific features of the Military Prosecutor’s Office.

 

During the meeting, the parties discussed a range of issues of mutual interest.
