Today Anna Vardapetyan, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, participated online in the 35th meeting of the CIS Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General, held in the Republic of Tajikistan.
In her speech, the Prosecutor General of Armenia addressed current issues related to the confiscation of property of illegal origin, presenting Armenia’s experience and results achieved in this sector.
According to Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan, over the past three years, within the scope of powers related to the confiscation of property of illegal origin, nine settlement agreements have been concluded. As a result, property equivalent to approximately 13.5 million USD has been returned to the state. “In the framework of international legal cooperation in criminal cases, we have succeeded in identifying proceeds of crime in several countries, which are currently frozen,” the Prosecutor General added. Concluding her remarks, she emphasized that this process remained one of the Prosecutor’s Office’s key priorities, aimed not only at preventing crime, but also at restituting damage caused to the state and communities, including the recovery of property and assets misappropriated from Armenia.
As a part of the 35th meeting of the CIS Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General, delegation heads delivered reports on topics such as anti-corruption efforts, confiscation of property of illegal origin, legal cooperation in combating cybercrime, protection of minors’ rights, and other issues.
