On October 3, 2025, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan received the delegation headed by the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Pyotr Gorodov.
The delegation arrived in Armenia to participate in the 10th jubilee anniversary meeting of the Interstate Anti-Corruption Council, which was held today in Yerevan.
Anna Vardapetyan welcomed her Russian colleague at the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia and emphasized the importance of cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries.
“I am confident that the decisions adopted today will contribute to increasing the effectiveness of joint efforts within the framework of the Council. When establishing the Council, the CIS member states acknowledged that corruption poses a threat to the security of any state, emphasized the importance of developing cooperation in the fight against corruption, and sought to coordinate that cooperation—realizing that combating corruption requires joint and effective mechanisms and efforts. Therefore, the assumption of the chairmenship of the Council by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Armenia is another opportunity for effective cooperation,” noted Anna Vardapetyan.
Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Pyotr Gorodov expressed his gratitude to Anna Vardapetyan for the warm reception and the high-level organization of the Council’s jubilee meeting. He congratulated her on assuming the chairmanship of the Interstate Anti-Corruption Council and wished her success in this important role.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed a number of issues of mutual interest.
The Anti-Corruption Interstate Council was established on the basis of the Agreement on the formation of the Interstate Anti-Corruption Council dated October 25, 2013, signed by the heads of six CIS member states. It functions as a sectoral cooperation body of the CIS and reports to the Council of Heads of State of the CIS.
The members of the Council include the Prosecutor Generals of Armenia, Russia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan, National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan; and the Director of the Agency for State Financial Control and Anti-Corruption of Tajikistan.
