Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan today, at the Prosecutor's Office in Dilijan, received the delegation of the Prosecutor's Office of the Czech Republic, headed by Jana Zezulova, former President of the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors, Council of Europe expert.
The Czech delegation has arrived in Armenia to participate in the two-day international high-level conference entitled “Independence and Impartiality of Prosecutors in the Context of Prosecution of Crimes Committed by Public Officials: Corruption and Money Laundering”, launched on July 1, 2025, in Dilijan, on the occasion of the 107th anniversary of the establishment of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia and the Day of Employee of the Prosecutor's Office.
Anna Vardapetyan welcomed the Czech colleagues, highlighted Jana Zezulová’s contribution to the creation of the Armenian edition of the compilation of opinions by the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors, and noted that Armenia attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation and relations with partner countries, aimed at strengthening the well-being of the two nations and developing economic, cultural, historical, and legal ties.
The Prosecutor General noted that a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Armenia and the Czech Republic on May 18, 2009, is in force, and Armenia also cooperates effectively with the Czech Republic within the framework of Eurojust.
In this context, Anna Vardapetyan expressed her gratitude for fulfilling about 90% of requests for legal assistance in criminal proceedings addressed to the competent authorities of the Czech Republic over the past 4 years and suggested the colleagues continuing joint efforts aimed at the seizure and further management of property acquired in Greece with funds illegally transferred from Armenia.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of issues of mutual interest. The Czech partners, among others, were interested in the legislative regulations and institutional approaches in Armenia regarding the institution of confiscation of illegally acquired property.
It should be recalled that the Conference is organized within the framework of the projects “Support to the Justice Reform in Armenia” and “Enhancing National Capacities for Effective Prevention and Fight Against Economic Crime in Armenia”, co-financed by of the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme “Partnership for Good Governance”, implemented by the Council of Europe.
