Matenadaran named after Mesrop Mashtots, in collaboration with the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and in partnership with “Kaits” charitable foundation, will organize an international conference dedicated to Mkhitar Gosh and his work, “Lawcode” in October 2025.
To announce the start of the conference and to discuss issues related to it, a joint meeting was held at Matenadaran today, with the participation of Anna Vardapetyan, RA Prosecutor General, Ara Khzmalyan, Director of Matenadaran and representatives of “Kayts” charitable foundation.
In the context of the conference reprinted English translation of the “Lawcode” is planned to present. The conference also aims at the analysis of canonical, medieval origin of current law in the scope of the reports presented by Armenian and foreign specialists.
Let us remind that based on the application of Matenadaran, on April 10, 2025, during the 221st session of the UNESCO Executive Board, Mkhitar Gosh’s “Lawcode” was unanimously added to the International Memory of the World Register by member states.
