Under the leadership of Anna Vardapetyan, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, the works carried out by the Prosecutor's Office of Aragatsotn Region in 2024 were summarized on February 15, 2025.
The summary meeting was attended by Yeghiazar Avagyan, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Gevorg Sargsyan, Prosecutor of Aragatsotn Region, Sergey Movsisyan, Head of Aragatsotn Region, Mher Aprikyan, Secretary General of the Prosecutor's Office, as well as the heads of the regional structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Security Service, and Investigative Committee, prosecutors from the regional prosecutor's office, and others.
While presenting the report on the works carried out by the Prosecutor's Office of Aragatsotn Region in 2024, Gevorg Sargsyan mentioned that 1,928 criminal proceedings were initiated in the previous year, and the prosecutors of the regional Prosecutor’s Office exercised supervision over 4,990 criminal proceedings (2,941 criminal proceedings remained from previous years).
According to the Prosecutor of the region, out of 4,990 criminal proceedings examined, 1,619 have been completed, of which 645 have been submitted to the competent court with an indictment against 666 people, and 4 have been submitted to the competent court with a final act against 4 people. "In comparison, I would like to note that in 2023, the Prosecutor's Office of the region completed 1,210 criminal proceedings, of which 462 were submitted to the competent court with an indictment", Gevorg Sargsyan reported, emphasizing that the number of proceedings submitted to court increased by 185 or 41% in 2024 compared to 2023.
In 2024, the courts of Aragatsotn region delivered judgment of conviction in 634 criminal cases, involving 646 persons (in 2023, in 240 criminal cases, involving 259 persons).
Anna Vardapetyan has instructed the Prosecutor of Aragatsotn region and the prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Office to intensify their efforts, in cooperation with regional law enforcement agencies, to combat the illegal circulation of drugs, criminal groups with a criminal subculture, and to uncover cases of illegal subsoil exploitation.
