Life imprisonment for a police colonel who committed robbery, murder and attempted murder. The court has granted the Prosecutor's motion regarding the imposition of the sentence

By its decision, dated December 13, 2024, First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan City granted the Prosecutor's motion regarding the imposition of the sentence and sentenced to life imprisonment Daniel Danielyan, who held the position of Head of the Traffic Violation Recording Center under the “Road Police” Service of the Police of the Republic of Armenia, to life imprisonment.

 

It should be reminded that on May 3, 2024, Police Colonel Daniel Danielyan committed an attempted robbery to steal USD 500 thousand from the Komitas branch of “HSBC Bank Armenia” CJSC, as a result of which he killed the bank's Security Officer, a Guard of “Armobil” CJSC, the Assistant to the Commander of the 1st platoon of the 2nd battalion of the 2nd troop of the State Protection Service Regiment of the Yerevan City Police Department, a Senior Police Officer, performing service in the territory. Another security guard suffered a gunshot wound.

 

On March 5, 2024, the Prosecutor submitted a motion to find Daniel Danielyan guilty of committing a robbery with the intent to steal particularly large-scale property, murder with mercenary motives committed against two individuals performing their official duties for the purpose of concealing another crime or facilitating the commission thereof, attempted murder, illegally acquiring, possessing, transporting, or carrying weapons, ammunition, explosives, or explosive devices, and to impose life imprisonment as the final punishment on the accused.

 

Pursuant to the court's judgment dated December 13, 2024, Daniel Danielyan was found guilty, and life imprisonment was imposed on him as the final punishment.
