The 34th session of the the Coordinating Council of the Prosecutors General of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held today in Yerevan.
The session was attended by Mher Grigoryan, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Igor Krasnov, Chairman of the Coordinating Council, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Vladimir Zimin, Executive Secretary of the Coordinating Council, Rahmon Yusuf Ahmadzod, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Tajikistan, Andrei Shved, Prosecutor General of Belarus, Galimzhan Koigeldiev, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nurbek Kaimov, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Kyrgyz Republic, Svetlana Artikova, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sergey Kopirkin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Armenia, and others.
Anna Vardapetyan welcomed the Heads of the Delegations participating in the 34th session of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutor Generals of the CIS Member States in Yerevan, expressed her gratitude for accepting her invitation despite their hard working schedule and emphasized that after a 17-years long pause, the capital of Armenia hosted the delegations of the Prosecutors General's Offices of the CIS countries.
Mher Grigoryan, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, welcomed the delegations attending the 34th session of the Coordinating Council and highlighted the importance of the activities of the Council in protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, strengthening the rule of law and fighting transnational crime. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the role of constructive cooperation between the states in the fight against crime, especially — organized and transnational crime.
In the context of the changing realities, Mher Grigoryan, Deputy Prime Minister of the RA, considered the renewal and development of the legal-treaty field of the cooperation of Independent States a priority, highlighting the role of the Coordinating Council in that regard.
Igor Krasnov, Chairman of the Coordinating Council, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, expressed his gratitude to Anna Vardapetyan for the excellent organization of the Council session and the warm reception. The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation expressed his confidence that the exchange of experience would contribute further to fighting the criminal threats with joint efforts, as well as to the protection of the rights and freedoms of the citizens of the CIS Member States.
The Delegations’ Heads made reports on the topics included in the agenda of the 34th session of the Coordinating Council, regarding the fight against corruption, the confiscation of property of illegal origin, the work carried out in the field of protection of state and community interests, legal cooperation in the fight against cybercrime, protection of rights of the socially vulnerable groups and minors, ensuring the rule of law and other issues.
Anna Vardapetyan, Prosecutor General of the RA expressed her gratitude to the delegations for their active participation and constructive dialogue, gratefully emphasized the work of the Coordinating Council for the preparation and holding of the meeting.
The 35th session of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS Member States will be held in the Republic of Tajikistan.
