Ladislav Hamran, the President of Eurojust will arrive in Armenia. Today the RA Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan announced about this during the session of the Government and referred to the signing of the working agreement on cooperation agreement between the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) and the competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia.
Let's remind that the negotiations for signing the cooperation agreement between the competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia and Eurojust were launched in 2021. The agreement was signed on April 5, 2024, in Brussels, and ratified by the RA National Assembly on September 10.
The purpose of the agreement is developing international cooperation between Eurojust and competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia in the fields of fight against organized crime, terrorism, money laundering, trafficking and other serious crimes.
The agreement envisages the possibility of sending a Liason Prosecutor to Eurojust for Cooperation. Representation of the RA Prosecutor's Office in Eurojust will give an opportunity to provide a quick connection with the contact persons of the EU member states and third countries, will provide an opportunity to carry out effective international and legal cooperation (Eurojust has a large toolkit and database to support the states in the fight against transnational crime).
