In the scope of the function of confiscation of property of illicit origin, the Prosecutor General’s Office concluded a settlement agreement on September 9, 2024, under which Alik Mirzabekyan, former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia and related persons shall be obliged to transfer AMD 200 million (about USD 500 thousand) to the Republic of Armenia.  

We would like to inform that on October 8, 2020, the Department of Confiscation of Property of Illicit Origin of the Prosecutor General’s Office made a decision on conducting an examination of property belonging to Alik Mirzabekyan.

Based on additional materials submitted by the respondents and their positions the following was required to be confiscated from Alik Mirzabekyan, former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia and related persons in favor of the Republic of Armenia.

• 5 immovable properties;
• 1 transportation means;
• 12 bank deposits and bonds;
• AMD 20 million 384 thousand as a remainder of illicit balance of monetary means;
• AMD 54 million 210 thousand,  which was not substantiated by the lawful income of the person,  had an illicit origin, was transferred to the bona fide purchaser or could not be identified and confiscated.

On August 30, 2024, the interested parties submitted an application on concluding the proceedings with settlement agreement.

On September 9, 2024, a settlement agreement was concluded under which the respondents were obliged to transfer in favor of the Republic of Armenia AMD 200 million, which constituted 79 % of the cost of the claim.

On September 11, 2024 the settlement agreement concluded between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and the respondents was submitted to the Anti-corruption  court for approval (under the procedure defined by the Civil Procedure Code, the mentioned settlement agreement shall be approved by the court within the term of one moths).
