The Prosecutor General’s Office required to confiscate a residential area located in the USA, immovable property located at the center of Yerevan as well as funds from the former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia

On May 15, 2024 the Anti-corruption court accepted into proceedings another statement of claim of the Prosecutor General’s Office regarding the confiscation of illicit property.

 

The Department of Confiscation of Property of Illicit Origin of the Prosecutor General’s Office submitted a claim to the court with the requirement to confiscate from Vigen Sargsyan, former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia and related persons:

 

  • 1 immovable property located at the center of Yerevan, and where it is not possible the average market value thereof—AMD 181 million 125 thousand; 
  • Residential area located at the State of Massachusetts, the USA, and where it is not possible the cost of acquisition thereof—AMD 940 million 909 thousand equal to USD 2 million 50 thousand;
  • AMD 255 million 454  thousand as a remainder of illicit income;
  • AMD 172 million 486 thousand, which was not substantiated by the lawful income of the person, had an illicit origin and could not be confiscated, as during 2004-2022 it was transferred to the bona fide purchaser and/or could not be identified, applying confiscation also on the properties and funds, which were obtained during the marriage with L.G and kept in the commercial banks under her name.
